Personally speaking…
Sometimes folks find it a little odd when they hear this guy in cowboy boots and jeans start talking about topics like green energy gasification systems, commercial space, remote chemical detection or social networking. It’s a little bit strange to me too, but then that is what I love about my life. Making the right connections in life has allowed me to work with some very talented people in some very diverse fields and I enjoy every minute of it.
What is behind all of this is that I love to develop and market just about anything and believe me when I say I have.
My work is always in a state of flux…projects are opportunities and the ones that are worthwhile take the most work.
Professionally speaking…
Digital Solutions is what I refer to as my day job. A great company to work with and I know because I was a customer first. Web development is their primary focus and you can learn more about my work with them at the link above.
In my spare time, I am involved with Promedia, a print media distribution company, DT2MS, a private partnership, as well as doing private consulting and project development for a number of folks. More to come on these companies later.
My passion to grow the commercial space industry…
Working with the growing commercial space industry in New Mexico and around Spaceport America has been exciting to say the least. While many have doubted, I have been participating! It has been amazing to observe the Spaceport here in New Mexico go from the dream and concept of a few pioneers, to an emerging leader in the private sector of the Commercial Space industry. Each month new milestones are reached in making this dream a reality.
I was a believer early on; New Mexico has a rich history that makes it perfect for the development of this industry. In March 2006 I wrote an article “New Mexico, on the edge of a new frontier” that appeared in my Trails West magazine that describes that history and one of my goals has been to be a part of that history in some way ever since.
I have been fortunate to work with the International Symposium for Personal & Commercial Spaceflight (ISPCS) for the last few years in bringing the industry’s leading visionaries and builders together, a annual event sponsored by Arianespace and the New Mexico Spacegrant.
Another outstanding organization I have been able to work with is the Conrad Foundation. Founded in honor of Pete Conrad, the third man to walk on the moon by his wife Nancy, the Conrad Spirit of Innovation Awards challenges students to create new concepts in specific fields of interest that could be taken to the commercial marketplace.
Another little group I have had the pleasure of working with is the X Prize Foundation with the creation of education materials for their events here in New Mexico. The Ansari X PRIZE was intended to stimulate private investment in the development of spaceflight technologies. The June 21, 2004 test flight of SpaceShipOne, a contender for the X PRIZE, was the first human spaceflight in a privately developed and operated vehicle. The Wirefly X Prize Cup and Lunar Lander X PRIZE Challenge that were held here were amazing events.
My work with New Mexico Space Grant and Dr. Patricia Hynes started my involvement in the space industry. New Mexico State University (NMSU) is the lead institution for the New Mexico Space Grant Consortium (NMSGC). NMSGC is a member of the congressionally funded National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program which is administered by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in 1989. The New Mexico NASA EPSCoR Program is to build the core competitive research strength in New Mexico. The additional purpose of the program is to grow technology development methods and activities for the solution of scientific and technical problems of importance to NASA.
The Student Launch Program held at Spaceport America is another great education opportunity for students to design experiments that use the environment of suborbital space to answer scientific and engineering questions. http://www.launchnm.com/
